What Is PTSD/ Trauma?

  • Ongoing events of stress such as living in a dangerous or crime-filled neighbourhood, fighting a long or life-threatening illness like cancer, childhood neglect or dealing with repeated events of bullying, domestic violence or abuse. 
  • Other causes such as surgeries, the sudden loss or death of someone close, a significant breakup or divorce, a deeply humiliating or disappointing experience or being victimised by someone especially cruel. 

What Are The Signs Of PTSD/Trauma?

PTSD/ trauma can present in a number of different emotional, psychological and even physical symptoms. Many people believe that PTSD/trauma looks or presents itself in one specific way, but this is simply not the case. 

PTSD/Trauma is incredibly complex and unique to the individual ‒ there is no “right” or “wrong” way to act or feel. No two cases of PTSD/trauma will present in the same way. Some symptoms can include:
